Join us at the Southern Illinois Manufacturing Academy for a sweet, hands-on experience where manufacturing meets culinary creativity! Step behind the scenes to see how chocolate is made and explore the world of robotics while you learn to program your industrial robot. This unique camp is perfect for young chocolatiers and future manufacturers.

Learn about the many different health care fields including Emergency Medical Services, Radiology, Nursing, Medical Coding, Phlebotomy, and Medical Assisting.

At this camp, you'll gain real-world experience and technical skills, working alongside industry professionals who are dedicated to helping you succeed. Whether you're interested in hitting the open road as a truck driver, or learning to weld for construction or manufacturing jobs, we have you covered. Please wear closed toe shoes. Safety glasses will be provided.

Explore the challenging world of Minecraft by using LEGO® Bricks to build some of the popular game figures, construct motorized LEGO® models, 3D, and mosaic builds inspired by the game. Campers will be given new challenges each day to craft elements in the game to build upon their gaming/coding skills too. They will also build and take home a personalized LEGO® mini figure.

RLC staff will collect your camper at the end of their morning camp, supervise their lunch, and drop them off at their afternoon camp.        

Campers need to bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage each day. 

Students will build LEGO® creations from WeDo® Education, turning them into a robot, programmed to do exactly what they tell it to do. Robotics 101 uses drag and drop icon-based programming and offers an introduction into the fun of building with LEGO® Bricks. Additionally, the students will face the challenge of computer programming some pretty awesome robots that will equip them to succeed in a technology-based marketplace. They will also have fun playing camp style games and a few LEGO® building challenges. Get your student ready for a fun, action-packed week that combines real-life skills with real-kid fun! Each day is a new culinary adventure as campers learn the basics of cooking safely. Campers will learn how to cook lunch for themselves and maybe even surprise others with their cooking skills! Campers will be taking home samples of their creations. Bertie Ham was well known for her love and passion for education, cooking and children. Bertie Ham’s Chefs of Tomorrow is being sponsored in Bertie’s memory, by her family and friends. Each camper will receive some of Bertie’s famous recipes.

Explore the great outdoors at Nature Camp! Learn from US Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers about wilderness first aid, how to build a campfire, what to do during wild animal encounters, and more! Parts of this camp will be conducted outside, so students should prepare accordingly – make sure to bring water bottles, sunscreen, and a passion for all things nature!
